Create a Windows 10 System Image Backup

- Click the Windows icon and open Settings.
- Go to Update & Security.
- Select the option ‘Backup.’
- Click the option ‘Go to Backup and Restore (Windows 7).’
- Click ‘Create a system image.’
- There are three locations where you can save the system image – On a hard drive, on one or more DVDs, or on a network location. If you choose an internal hard drive, then you will get a caution message that ‘The drive selected is one the same physical disk that is being backed up. If this disk fails, you will lose your backups.’
- Use the drop-down to select an external hard drive that you have connected with the computer. Click Next.
- Confirm your backup settings and click ‘Start Backup.’
Now you have a secure backup of your Windows at the external hard drive, and in the future, if there is a catastrophe and the Windows becomes corrupt, then you can use the system image to restore the Windows.
Let’s check the restore procedure also. Here are the steps;
- Connect the external hard drive, which has the backup of your Windows.
- Now reboot the computer through repair disc and change the system’s BIOS settings to check that the computer boot from the CD or DVD by clicking the ‘Delete/F2.’
- The ‘Windows Setup’ appears. Follow Repair your computer>>troubleshoot>>system image recovery>>Windows 10. Click Next.
- Click the option ‘Use the latest available system image’ and click Next.
The restore process brings the Windows back to your computer, and you can access the data easily. But if you had taken the system image a long time back, and there were some important file in the computer which were lost due to corruption, they will not come back after restoring the image because the image may have the copy of only the C drive and the data was saved in the D or any other drive.

- After saving the file, the tool will show the message that ‘Files Saved successfully.’
